Back to river rafting. You can go out on your own or alternatively, opt for a gentle rafting tour on the Black River, White River, Martha Brae or even on Rio Grande. You can sit back relax and enjoy the panoramic vistas as they unfold and see the wildlife. The rafts are approximately 30-feet long and are captained by experts who not only have complete control over the rafts but are also well-versed to provide you information that will make the tour all the more interesting. Also, if you are on a honeymoon or are looking for something really romantic, you can also try out the moonlight rafting tours.

There are plenty of opportunities for white water rafting in fast paced water locations in Montego Bay, Port Antonio and Ocho Rios. Again, you have the option to go out on your own or hire the services of a local guide to help you negotiate the rapids.

Should you wish, you can also hire the services of a local guide to help you navigate the rapids. White water rafting tours are also easily available and usually are three to five hours long.

Whether you wish to go out on your own or opt for a tour, remember to carry along bottled water (though there are some tours that include picnic and drinks), sunscreen and mosquito repellent. Otherwise the bugs can spoil a perfect water rafting trip.

If you’re going to visit Jamaica, you may as well do it during its weeklong festival of Reggae Sumfest 2016 celebrating Jamaican reggae music with concerts, dances, and parties. Jamaica’s summer music festival Reggae Sumfest has been “Promoting music – the universal force” for the past 20 years.

Reggae Sumfest takes place in mid-July in Montego Bay, the island’s second largest city and a popular tourist destination.

The only international literary festival in the English-speaking Caribbean, Calabash was founded in 2001 by novelist Colin Channer. Over 30 authors feature at the festival and, together with musicians from around the world, they fill the festival agenda with readings, discussions and musical events. Calabash is 'earthy, inspirational, daring and diverse'. Its aims are to establish a world-class literary festival, with its roots in Jamaica and branches reaching out into the wider world.

Treasure Beach resort is in the Parish of Saint Elizabeth, about 16km (10 miles) southeast of Black River, Near Black River, Jamaica
